Information
Sheedys Country House offers a wonderfully idyllic escape on the edge of the Burren. Dating in part from the 17th century, this house has a truly intimate atmosphere. This is the oldest house in the village of Lisdoonvarna. John and Martina are your hosts at this country inn hotel, where the Sheedy family have welcomed guests for over 300 years.
Area Information
The Spectacle Bridge (3 km) - The bridge spans a deep narrow gorge through which the Aille River flows. As it had to support the road at the top, a double arch forming a circular opening was built above the lower arch, giving the bridge its unusual and unique 'spectacle' appearance.
The Cliffs of Mohar (6 km) - These majestic cliffs rise from the Atlantic to a height of nearly 200 metres and extend for a distance of 8 km from Hag's Head to beyond O'Brien's Tower.
Aran Islands (15 km) - Situated in the middle of Galway Bay, the rugged, natural beauty along with thatched roof stone cottages dot the islands. Throughout the islands, you will find ruins of early monasteries, fortifications and many churches.
Walking is a big activity in our area. Our Hotel caters for walkers, we have walking maps and routes at reception. We can also arrange guides and packed lunches.
