A former manor house dating back to the 18th century, this ivy-clad residence has been totally refurbished to provide the warmth of a country home with the style of a luxury hotel. The private contemporary art collection throughout Old Ground Hotel is carefully considered to sit comfortably on its historic walls. The interesting and dramatic artwork, by both established and emerging Irish and international artists, include works by Cecil Maguire, William Kentridge and Martin Gale.

Please note Spa treatments take place at Aveda Spa a few minutes walk from the Hotel.

In the evenings, whilst you admire the views of the pretty winding streets of Ennis and the rugged beauty of County Clare and the West of Ireland beyond, inside the Old Ground Hotel you can relax by the warmth of the blazing fire.

Located in the centre of the attractive medieval town of Ennis, County Clare, the hotel provides an ideal starting point from which to explore the famous attractions of Ireland's west coast. The Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Caves and Bunratty Folk Park are all within easy reach, whilst Connemara and the Aran Islands provide some spectacular options for day trips.

We had a very nice stay , we asked for a quite room and we got one over looking the school yard, but it was not so bad.The girl on the reciption was very nice . We had to ask for a top sheet for the bed and it was delivered very quick. The food in the poets bar was very tasty and not to expensive.The bathroom could have done with a bit of a clean up on the tiles on the floor.Over all it was a nice plesant stay.

My husband and I were delighted with our choice of The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis! The room was clean, generous in space, with all the conveniences one would expect in a hotel. The bathtub was lovely and deep so you could really enjoy a long hot soak after exploring Ennis on a cold winter's day. All staff were friendly and efficient, from reception to maid service. The breakfast menu was quite nice and varied and again, the staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. We will definitely stay here again!

great location, warm and friendly atmosphere, good food, bathroom in our room was small but perfectly clean. definitely would stay here again, no hesitation to reccommend this hotel.

Always enjoy staying in the Old Ground Hotel but the room we had needed repairs and updating which was alittle disapointing.

I have been staying in the Old Ground now for approx 10 years. This is a lovely friendly, warm hotel in a central location. What makes the hotel extra special however are the staff, especially Maura and Pascal who give everyone a warm greeting at breakfast and lunch. This hotel gives great value for money, the rooms are very quiet and each room slightly different decor and design which is nice. The food in both O'Brien Room and Town Hall is very nice, especially the Clare Lamb cutlets! There is a lively bar with hosts great traditional music sessions with top class Clare and visiting musicians all year round. Would recommend this hotel without reservation and look forward to a return visit to this lovely hotel and the lovely town of Ennis in the near future.

Had a lovely weekend at the Old Ground, the staff were more than helpful with any request we had. The food in the hotal and the Town Hall was excellent and a great atmosphere in both. Would definitely go back

We stayed for two nights in the hotel and I have to say we really enjoyed it immensely. To our delight we were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost and the room was really comfortable. The staff are second to none. They made us feel really welcome, were very friendly and we felt we were at home. We dined in the restaurant on the first night and the food was delicious with lovely presentation. Breakfast was served in the same dining room and there was plenty of everything with a good variety to suit every taste. the second night we really enjoyed the traditional music in the bar. The decor in the hotel suits the setting with lots of comfortable seating in the foyer. The fact that the Old Ground is close to everything in Ennis and easy to visit other attractions around Clare makes it a wonderful place to stay. Overall we were delighted with our stay and have no problem recommending it to anyone. Julie. Dublin Ireland.

Stayed at Old Ground on 19th and 20th june 2011. I can not complain or criticise any part of our 2 day stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely friendly without being o.t.t. or intrusive, food was fantastic and room was just lovely. We will definitely be back. Well done Old Ground Hotel.

Just back from a fab night in the Old ground Hotel. Our room was lovely really big and huge en suite. The food in the bar was lovely and the staff were all very helpfull. Five star rating from me..

We stayed at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis last weekend and would definately recommend it to any couple or group. The bar food is lovely and good value for money, staff are all very friendly and there's a very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. It's central location too is brilliant, lots of shops & pubs around - perfect for our weekend break away! Hotel car part to the rear. We'll def be going back again. One thing, we didn't see too many children there so I don't know what facilities are available for children.

The Old Ground -- a relic of ould dacency with all mod cons. Lovely staff and food, nicely appointed bedroom (wifi available) and a reception area that's actually pleasant to sit around in (and have tea or a drink). Lively bar with quality traditional music in the evening. And it's slap in the middle of one of Ireland's most charming towns. We enjoyed our two-night stay in mid-January and found it a good base for visiting west Clare too. Great value and highly recommended

This is a lovely hotel with an excellent location in the town centre. We had a very nice room which was recently renovated,i would imagine given its quiet an old hotel. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. Overall we had a really lovely stay in this hotel and would definitely recommend it. However because it is an old hotel there are lots of doors and isn't extremely friendly to wheelchair or buggy users!
