Kinnitty Castle was absolutely amazing! The staff were v friendly, and even upgraded my parents room to a suite as I told them we were there to celebrate my dads 60th. We had lunch in the library bar and dinner in the restaurant and the food was AMAZING in both. The Dungeon bar was fab and was made even better by the music. We had the loveliest stay there and will definitely be back!

A truly wonderful hotel. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Nothing to criticise. The room was beautiful, the food delicious and the staff warm and helpful. In fact the room was also lovely and warm which we weren't really expecting in such an old castle. We really felt like we were staying in a castle with abundant history and not just an ordinary hotel. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore every nook and cranny. In the grounds behind the castle if you go for a walk there were some dilapidated buildings and the surrounds are not as manicured as other hotel grounds but that didn't in any way detract from our stay. Also plenty to visit in the surrounding areas. Would love to go back some day!

Stayed in Kinnitty Castle on Paddy's weekend. I really enjoyed my stay because I like old buildings. The room was fine and big, and I got to sleep in a four poster bed. The staff were very helpful, and the service was very good. I enjoyed the food, and the lovely walks surrounding the castle. The only downside to the trip was the dungeon bar, which I did not like. Yes I would definitely visit Kinnitty Castle again!

We had a great break in Kinnity Castle recently. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was very good and the bed comfortable. However, we had to climb a very steep stairs to get to our room on the top floor which would be difficult for anyone older or with a disability. The other disadvantage was that the only place to sit was in the bar which was busy. The downstairs cellar bar was very dark and not very welcoming. However, the grounds were lovely.

Very enjoyable stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly, food in both bar and restaurant was really good and great value, we were very happy with our room, we stayed in the ballybritt room. Only complaint was you could here everything in the room above, even when they were talking you could hear word for word as if they were in our room with us. Other then that we loved it. Great atmosphere and a little spooky, we will diffinatly return for a relaxing over night stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kinnity Castle. Rooms were not quite what I expected. A bit small but still they were okay. The staff were very helpful and offered us an upgrade for our second night even without us asking, which we took obviously. The food was excellent both in the bar and the restaurant. Very relaxing place to stay with a couple of really nice walks around the castle. All in all a lovely break away.

warm friendly welcome on a cold foggy day, room a big let down though, cramped and bed tiny, afraid to roll over in case I fell into the wee fireplace ! lovely big bath but couldn't regulate shower temp and sink grubby, friendly staff in the lounge but fireplace area let down by worn and tatty leather furniture, best thing was the food - amazing!! fabulous dinner and cooked breakfast.

We recently stayed at Kinnitty for one night and found the castle to be full of character and charm both inside and out. The hotel was fully booked during our stay so we found the reception desk to be under staffed with just one person attempting to meet and greet, check in, answer the phones and show people to their rooms. Our room was lovely, perfectly clean, huge bed and gorgeous bathroom. Our room ( O Ryan) didnt have a tv but this didnt bother us. We had a leisurely two course meal in the Sli Dala which was delicious and the staff were very good. The receptionist kindly provided a jug of ice water upon request to take to our room upon retiring. We had breakfast in our room the next morning which was delivered hot and on time and was very tasty indeed. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Stayed in Kinnity with my partner on Monday Dec 5th and we both had a lovely time. Staff were totally amazing and could not have been more pleasant and accomodating. We were automatically upgraded to a suite on arrival at no extra charge as castle was not busy. We had dinner from restaurant and the staff kindly let us eat that in bar rather than sit in dining room on our own, the food was very very good. We got breakfast in our suite next morning which was also very good. Our only negative comment would be that the bar beside dining room is way too bright and because of that there is a cold atmosphere in there even with the fire lit, felt it would be much cosier in there if lights could be dimmed and candles lit on tables. We would definately return to Kinnity and have booked my parents into Kinnity in new year and am hoping that they enjoy experience as mush as we did.

had a great say at kinnitty with my family. the staff were so friendly and helpful. The grounds are fantastic and the forest walk is beautiful. The room decor was charming.its a great alternative relaxing holiday.I would highly recommend kinnitty for the alternative night away. the entertainment was a night to remember in the dungeon bar.
i stayed in the castle a few years ago and we paid over 250 for a night. What a bargain now. The only down fall to this hotel in the food. the selection and quality of food in the restaurant was poor and the a bit pricey .
but that wouldn't put us off goin back. thanks for a great night.

we really enjoyed our stay. the staff were very nice, friendly. rooms grand, food grand. there was a traditional music session in the dungeon bar by a local talented family group of 4 sisters who were just great! The hotel is old and a bit damp but the heat was on full pelt to counter act this. It really was a most enjoyable break and would recommend it provided the afore-mentioned mustiness would not bother you.

the staff had a lot to desire, we were almost overcharged by 40euro which caused us great distress, when we spoke to the manager she was tatally unsympathetic and stood up for her staff and we felt like we had to explain ourselves for their mistake!!! all the tables in the dining hall are wobbly so again our drinks almost spilled and the lit candle on the table was a fire hazzard, be careful with the 2 course meal deal, if you order chips instead of potatoes its classed as extra, the castle itself is beautiful but needs to be updated as the stairs is not good for older people, there is no lifts and the flight to the top is a killer!!

Good Morning, We had a lovely time and thought the Hotel was beautiful. We were delighted wwith our room and the staff were very helpful. I woud give it four stars.
We had our meal in the Library, which again was lovely, the only slight disappointment was the menu was not suitable for Coelics. The Starter was fine, as was the dessert, but the main course which while tasty was , just plain chicken and chips.I had made a note on my booking, which i think was over looked, which was a pity.
But all in all we had a great time, it is a lovely hotel, brilliant value and we will certainly reccommed it.

-Booked a night in the castle for my boyfriend to celebrate being 10 years together and was very excited because he loves castles! Arrived in Kinnity and decided to go for something to eat in the village first but there was nowhere to go to eat so had lunch in the castle itself. The castle is amazing to look at and we took a drive nearby where there are lots of lovely forest walks and the slieve bloom mountains are fabulous. If you are into the outdoors the forests are great. We did go on a drive called the Slieve Bloom Village Drive which doesn't really take you anywhere in particular, we just kept following the signs and in the end gave up and went a different way!!
Lunch in the castle was lovely and we had it in the library bar. I had two disappointments with Kinnity castle, and I am not fussy by any means! Just a 33 year old looking for nice food and a nice atmosphere. Firstly there were two choices for the meal, either in the expensive restaurant which was not 30euros per person which the website states or Monks Restaurant (which Paulo Tullo Reviewed) Decided to go with Monks as it was cheapest, a buffet for 20 euros per person. The food was fine but the choice was non-existant, only one dessert and would have preferred waitress service, there was supposed to be traditional irish music in the bar but there wasn't which again was disappointing.
Overall, it was a nice experience to stay in a castle for the night, breakfast next day was very nice but there was a huge queue of people waiting to go in and we had to have it in the bar and staff were flying round the place. They need to sort out meal options as this is usually what you look forward to when going away. Also, the receptionist never asked if we enjoyed our stay when we were leaving.

The stay was amazing and the food was plentiful. Ideal if you want to escape from the hussle and bussle that everyday life presents. Really enjoyed relaxing and playing board games in the library bar. The Grounds are wonderful, plenty of walking and you can even borrow a bike if you fancy a cycle. There are stables with friendly horses too to admire. Advise would be to travel in the day to get there as fog seems to be inevitable here. The only thing I would say on the negative is to book well in advance that morning a table for dinner in the dining room as we were refused even though the restaurant had just opened and no one was even present at the time it was fully booked. There is a buffet all you can eat though downstairs which is nice too but more casual. An ideal break for your parents or close friends. Enjoy!

In my opinion the hotel was not ready to receive guests. The hotel bedrooms were freezing. There was no heat on in them when we arrived. When we turned on the radiators only the bathroom one worked and the bedroom one did not. We changed rooms and the radiator in this one worked. Heating should have been on before guests arrived. We did not arrive untill six o clock. Rooms were to cold to shower in that evening.
Food was very good. But you had to be up early to get a choice of bread with your breakfast.

Wouldnt recommend for anyone with small kids, stairs everywhere had to carry the buggy up and down flights of stairs. Also one of the rooms we booked complaints made on the noise of an ice machine underneath, complained to management and they advised someone else had complained about this before. For this reason people should not be put in these rooms if there is a known problem.

The castle is very oldly wordly and the setting is idyllic. But it was absolutely freezing when we were there at the bank holiday weekend. There are a few little things that could be done to maintain the castle like sweeping away the cobwebs and washing the floors. On the day that we checked in, the shower didn't work initally and the next morning it didn't work at all. So an attempt to have a bath was made but there was no cold water, only hot! The restaurant starter portions were quite small and it was only when we went to order that we were told that one of the dishes and our wine selection wasn't available - would have be nice to be told this when we were seated. The staff were a little ditzy and flustered but pleasant. There are lots of little nooks and crannies to explore around the building. Overall, our night there was fine but there was something lacking about such a lovely old place!

Nice hotel with great decor. Good room
However instead of an evening meal in the dining room there was only a buffet dinner in the monks kitchen. The tables were dirty and wet in places and no serviettes and we had to ask for them. Meal itself was not fantastic.
The bed was very large but matraze was very hard. Room could have done with a bit of dusting.
Not sure whether new linen was put on the bed as a paper tissue was found in bed.

We stayed for one night in May '10. It is in a beautiful location with beautiful grounds. I agree that the decor could do with a bit of a revamp - which I understand may be difficult to do whilst maintaining the original features. Unfortunately the courtyard appeared to be locked up when we were there and the dungeon bar was not open. I felt that because the place was not full, the guests there were not getting the full experience. The dinner was O.K. Not really 4 star standards (my husband has to send back his meat dish which was off - they did offer another choice). Staff were pleasant. I also agree that there could be T.V.'s in the bedrooms. I could have done with curtains on the bathroom windows too! Overall we had a pleasant stay. As we got the room on a special price, I feel I may have got my moneys worth. I would not pay full price for what we did recieve and I probably would have complained if I had have been paying full whack! I think the place has so much potential but to live up to the 4 stars, would need to polish up a bit.

Really enjoyed my one night stay at the castle. It was a great opportunity to relax and unwind in it's magnificent surroundings. Did think it could do with a litte re-vamping, but apart from that, all the staff from reception to the waitressing staff were very friendly and professional. Ideal hotel for couples but not families with children. (No TV's in rooms). All said and done, I would return to the castle in the winter months when all those beautiful fireplaces would be burning brightly.
PS: Even the ghosts are friendly, especially the one that lives in the Geraldine Suite.

Had a nice stay but was expecting perhaps, a little something more......that said, would go back as there is something very appealing about the place. Staff are lovely, especially the lady that served us in the dining room. Made us feel very welcome. Our room....Geraldine ! certainly was quaint but had a great nights sleep, I couldn't fault it but my husband found it a tad claustrophobic as it was located in what I could only describe as the attic space. There are no t.v's in the bedrooms! I really liked this but perhaps it may not appeal to everyones taste. We were troubled by no ghost ( just as well ) and by all accounts, I look forward to my repeat visit.

The castle is as you would expect it to be though the decor is a little tired and could do with a bit of a revamp, the staff and food was excellent. The only down side is the hotel policy not to have T.V's in the bedrooms, which I think would be a major problem if you were taking children with you.
