Area Information

This magical village is full of character and is one of the best preserved medieval villages in Ireland. Raided in the 8th & 9th centuries by the Vikings and then in 12th century by the Normans, there ruins are still to be seen. The skyline of the village is dominated by King John’s castle, built in 1210, it towers over the harbour, plus the medieval town gate and the mint decorated with celtic designs, there is so much to appreciate. The historical setting, the inherent natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and the myriad of activities make Carlingford the gem it is.

Travel Information

Carlingford is equidistant from Dublin and Belfast only 1hour Four Season Hotel is located in the heart of Carlingford in the Cooley Peninsula. From Belfast take M1, to Newry then follow R173 along the lough shore to Omeath & then Carlingford. The Hotel is located on the far side of the village on the right hand side. From Dublin take M1 to Dundalk, join the northern side of Dundalk at the roundabout for M1 & N52 ( Ballymac ) take R173 then R175 & R176 to Carlingford. The hotel is located on the approach to the village on the left handside.

Stayed two nights staff very helpful and friendly / food excellent with a four course dinner for €25 excellent value . Room very spacious with all amenities coffee tea ect, The pool and leisure facilities wonderful hope to return again . mags dublin

My fiance and I stayed for two nights in The Four Seasons. The staff on reception and at the bar were friendly and courteous. There were a number of occasions however where the bar was left unattended and we were left waiting for lengthy periods to be served. The room we stayed in was clean and well ventilated. We were however woken by what sounded like a very loud extractor fan at around 4am,this occured both mornings and persisted until we got up. The sound came from a vent in the bathroom. The leisure centre facilities were quite good. And finally the food,we had breakfast both mornings. The quality of the food was mediocre,the breakfast staff however were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all we had quite a pleasant stay.

reception staff very helpful , restaurant staff could not have been more friendly ,soup at lunch time was almost cold on the sunday we were there but we would recommend the hotel as a place to stay.

We had a two day break . We found overall the hotel to be warm and friendly with the staff very helpfull, except for the Wed evening. We were served tea and sandwiches in the bar by a man behind the bar who was very unfriendly. He never smiled and took our order and dealt with us in a very detatched manner, overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back again

We very much enjoyed our recent midweek stay at The Four Seasons. We have stayed there on many occasions and found the food to be excellent, staff courteous and helpful and it is great value for money. The coastal location, the historic village and many walks make this a very enjoyable place explore.

The Four Seasons Carlingford is an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and warm. Staff at the hotel were most helpful and efficient. I would highly recommend it.

My Husband and I stayed in the FOUR SEASONS HOTEL in Carlingford Co Louth . We had a really Lovely time the staff were exceptional and the food was really good . We will be back couple from Dublin 14

lovely hotel but wasnt comfortable with my 2 year old not a family hotel,no entertainment at all.Was awake til 4 am with children from a wedding running and screaming up and down hallway wont go back with children.Carlingford is a lovely little town

Stayed in the hotel thuesday 4th august ,after attending the wedding their that day from the moment we walked in to the time we left we couldnt find a fault with the hotel. Great welcome, great service great food beauitful area can see why wedding couple picked the hotel

Fantastic value for money. The hotel is very nice and the staff were wonderful. We had dinner and breakfast at the Four Seasons, Calingford during our stay and the food was magnificent. Carlingford is a lovely town and ideal for a short break. We have booked another stay at the Four Season with our friends and can't wait to return. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, without hesitation. Well done to the management and staff. Joyce, Dublin

We loved our stay here, asked for an upgrade to deluxe room if available when booking and they gave it to us without any extra charge. Staff were very nice. Only negative comment and reason for not giving it five stars was the construction work which went on from 9am in the room above us both mornings was a bit annoying. Apart from that would highly recommend staying here.

An excellent hotel very well located within 2 minutes walk of Carlingford village and overlooking the lough. The room was quite spacious. The staff were very helpful and courteous. We had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant. I got a steak that was huge and cooked exactly as I requested. Service was very prompt both in the evening and at breakfast, despite the restaurant being quite busy.

Great hotel, fantastic value. Went for a one nights Dinner Bed and Breakfast stay over Valentines weekend. Food was amazing at dinner and breakfast. The town in a stones throw which is full of great little bars, plenty to choose from. The room was quite big with everything you would need in a hotel room. The only negative thing i could say was that i could hear people running around in the room above us, which woke me up. It was quite loud and went all all morning, but that was more the guests above us to fault rather than the hotel. All in all, I'll definitely stay again.

* My Husband & I stayed in the 'Four Sesons' Carlingford last week (July 2010). Our room was looking out at the sea & harbour, the view was beautiful. The Reception staff were friendly & the night staff were very friendly particularly the night bar man & the Manager, they were very chatty & witty. The hotel is litterally as it said 1minute walking distance from Carlingford. 'Magees Restaurant' is just the most gorgeous Fish Restaurant, it is definatly a must on your stay in Carlingford.

Had a lovely break. Hotel very nice staff were excellent. One guest walked with a disability so they provided a disabled room. Rooms very very spacious and nicelty decorated. We had dinner there on the two nights and it was excellent. I would recommend this hiotel to a friend. I hope to return to this hotel. K.M. Dublin

My mother and I had a very pleasant stay in the Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingford. When we arrived we were given a room with twin beds, but when I explained that my mother would be more comfortable in a double bed we were given a room with a double and single bed. The staff were very nice and the food was good. The hotel setting is ideal, with the sea on one side and the mountain on the other, with a nice garden with waterfall and seating overlooking the mountain. The price for three nights B/B at %u20AC35 p.p. was very good value. I would rate it 4 star.

VERY FRIENDLY STAFF, FOOD WAS VERY NICE AND ENTERTAINMENT WAS GOOD TOO. LOCATION WAS PERFECT AND PARKING WAS AMPLE. ROOMS WERE WELL KEPT AND BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE. NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HOTEL AND THE RATE WAS REALLY GOOD VALUE ENJOY !!

Set in a beautiful location and just minutes from the village centre. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Bar & restaurant very good and staff very courteous and welcoming. An ideal spot to relax & unwind. Beautiful pool & Gym in the hotel and for the outdoor types, plenty of walks etc. and plenty of fresh air! Will definately be returning soon!

Hotel was fine. Spacious bedroom, comfortable bed, good bed linen, good size bathroom. All very clean, but sparse on toiletries. Good breakfast and service. Not to be confused with the 5 Star 4 Seasons but good value for money. Because of the leisure centre you might have to park a bit away from the hotel.
