We had a lovely time in the Central as like it says it was CENTRAL to everything and we could park up and walk everywhere. The Leisure Centre was good and we used it twice daily and we found a great Restaurant Across the road called the Harbour. The Hotel is beside the harbour and great for using the WATERBUS to tour the islands. A real must for anyone on a visit - most entertaining.
All in all we had a lovely stay - just one minor point - no parking directly at the Hotel so its a little difficult to unload the car on a double yellow line - but the hotel have lots of parking spaces within a 2 minute walk. You must go into reception to get a Sticker for your car first! Thus you need to find a parking spot to do this.............

standard of hotel ok - when we arrived, there was a mixup with room and they ad given us a double instead of twin. They then moved us to a room that had just been painted the day before - which you could hardly breathe in....they finally gave us another room - to find out that evening that the water system had broken and we had no water until saturday evening ( having checked in Friday night)
Hotel clean - food ok - but overall - have had better experiences !
When we complained about room and lack of hot water and asked for the manager - we were told they were out. We gave our name and number and asked for them to call us.
Needless to say - we are still waiting

We stayed two nights 27/28 Aug '10.Check-in staff friendly and helpful but bartender was surly, looked as if she wanted to be anywhere but behind the bar. On Saturday morning the receptionist wasn't very helpful in recommending places to go and see in the area, unlike the staff in other hotels we have stayed in previously. As this was our first time in Donegal this was a disappointment.
The room was clean but overlooked a private car park and a very large extractor fan for either the pool or kitchen was under the window, which had to be kept closed because of the noise from the fans.
On Saturday morning there was no hot water due to a breakdown, so we had freezing showers. The staff were overwhelmed at breakfast and a second dining room had to be used. The cooked breakfast was passable, mushrooms tasteless, bacon a bit tough. On Sunday morning poached egg on toast was ordered but bacon and a fried egg was served.
The location is very central and car parking (free ticket at reception for Co Council car parks) was no problem despite one of the car parks being taken over for the Taste of Donegal food festival which was on that weekend. We tried a couple of the restaurants in the town that seemed to be popular but they disappointed despite the fact that the food festival promoting Donegal's restaurants was on. They need to improve the quality of their fare. The local pubs were the one redeeming feature of Donegal Town, good craic and value for money. As for County Donegal the scenery speaks for it's self.
Overall the price of the weekend was about right, no bargain as the hotel needs to improve its customer care.
