We had a lovely stay here in October, the staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough for us. The food was brilliant and the selection was great. The rooms are quite old looking, nothing a lick of paint couldnt fix! Its not like we spent long in the rooms anyway. would definately go back.

My husband and I stayed for one night,the staff were very friendly and helpful,beautiful room ,bar food and entertainment good.Only negative point is dining
room very warm and stuffy at breakfast,overall a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed in the Carlton Abbey Hotel recently and had a wonderful night. We had the best meal ever in the beautiful bar and breakfast was fantastic. Leisure facilities were great and the Staff were very friendly and obliging. We would highly recommend this hotel. We will certainly be going back. Martin & Caroline Lyons

maby my standers are a bit to high,but i found the hotel to be a bit dated dull and drab.i would only rate it two stars i have stayed in better b+b s.food in bar was very good and staff very friendly.restrant was very small and at breckfast was busy with guests standing around waiting to be seated with nowhere to put them sorry but i would not return liz dublin

Had a lovely stay at the Carlton Abbey, very welcoming, fab foyer, fantastic food. The on-site spa was great too, with some great offers for guests. Thoroughly recommend it

stayed st. patricks day for one night with the family . the staff were so friendly and helpful. the food was way above what we expected. (pork belly and steak was amazing.)breakfast had a great selection including pancakes. the only down side was the room was too hot at night .

Unfortunately this review might be tainted a little by the fact we ate bar food which did not agree with our stomach. Leaving this aside for a moment I would say it's a good value for money hotel which has a convienent location right in the centre of Athy.
After making a recovery from my "illness" I was able to avail of the spa facilities. They had excellent specials for the month which were really good value and the service in the spa was excellent.
For us, a familiy with two small children, it was a little inconvienent to have the pool just outside the hotel. It meant a short walk outdoors to the pool but having to dress two children for outdoor weather doesn't suit. There was also no children's pool, again something that means a lot to us. The pool was also a little bit cold.
Overall it's a good value break but the hotel could polish up on some areas.

despite getting lost on route and the really bad weather my fiancee and i spent a very romantic weekend at the carlton abbey hotel.the room was huge with very comfy bed.the bar was very chilled out and despite the resturant being small and virtually empty,had romantic dinner ith good wine.we spent the next day in the gym and pool and had a great afternoon in the bar watching the six nations.the staff were super friendly.all in all fantasic weekend.

<p>Wonderful relaxed break. Staff were very accommodating. Leisure center lovely. Breakfasts lovely and more that enough. Dinner excellent and staff were very friendly. Excellent value for money. Rooms spacious and very tastefully done. Would recommend. </p>

Lovely hotel - lovely location - receptionist always on the phone - paving stones loose at the entrance not fixed despite staff being informed - electric socket haning off the wall with exposed wires outside our room - which was above the staff smoking area outside the kitchen - bar was nice and the and service in the restraunt was excellent pity the food didnt match the service - all in all in was the nice stay and the weather was excellent

<p>Had a fantastic stay at Carlton Abbey Hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food in restaurant was delicious and a hearty Irish breakfast was had in the morning. Room was spacious and bathroom was huge, with bath and shower for 2. Spotlessly clean and full of old worlde charm. Took a self guided tour around the hotel and they have some magnificent private rooms. We did not use the leisure centre, it is a 1 minute walk from the hotel in a separate building. Had a thoroughly relaxing time, chilled out reading in the wonderful bar, the former chapel. We will definitely be back. We stayed in room 204 and definitely recommend it.</p>

<p>We really enjoyed our stay in the Carlton Abbey Hotel. We stayed in an apartment during the Easter Weekend on the grounds of the hotel. The restaurant was lovely. We really enjoyed the leisurely, relaxing breakfast. We availed of the gym and leisure facitilies which were very nice. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it. <p>When we arrived they had booked us into an apartment which was not in the hotel, this was kind of annoying as we had booked into the hotel, they gave me a bottle of wine as compensation. Overall the hotel was nice and the bar was pretty good, converted nuns abbey so had a certain charm about it. Would probably go back but would like to stay within the hotel next time....</p>
